Our Team.

Tenisha Malcolm-Wint founded Outdoors On Purpose in 2020 as a hiking commUNITY developed to encourage all people to find respite and joy in the outdoors with particular emphasis on Black & Brown people. For four years, the work was centered in Essex County, NJ, but in 2024, she decided to go statewide and become formal 501(c)(3) organization. She was joined by Natasha Stone as the initial board member,  Renata Barnes as the first staff member, and Amie Rukenstein as the first volunteer.
