OOP was so happy to attend the debut of Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum's wonderful exhibit on Friday night. In the glow of twilight, we moved from the outdoor celebration to the welcoming old church where we learned about how enslaved Black women were not allowed adornment on the rough woven headscarves they were forced to wear. Through perseverance, a tradition of Sunday church hats was born. The beauty and resilience of American Black women shines from every gorgeous portrait in the exhibit. Thanks for this, SSAAM, we look forward to partnering with you soon.
